Depleted uranium is uranium with reduced radioactivity. It is a byproduct from the enrichment of uranium to be used for nuclear weapons or nuclear power plants, and in depleted uranium, 3/4 of the isotope 235U has been removed. The radioactivity is thus reduced by approximately 40 percent compared to natural uranium.
